I have always been one to look up into the night sky to catch the moon and stars. I've done that since I was very young and kept it up throughout my adult life even when life got demanding and distracting. I taught my children and now my grandchildren to do the same. I want them to be aware of the beauty of nature, all nature.
In the city the night sky is one part of nature that we often take for granted, mostly because the city lights hide it from us. So when I take a night photo that has revealed them, I get excited. I have captured the diamonds in the sky for all to admire.
You don't need special equipment except for a DSLR, a basic lens, a tripod and a little knowledge on how to take a long exposure image. Try it sometime, it's easier than you think.
Next time you're outside at night, look up. It's magical wherever you many find yourself. Even in the city.
I'll leave you with this beautiful rendition of Diamonds by Sia and sung by One Voice Children's Choir
